Leatherman C33 Review
My first reaction after unboxing the C33 is that it’s a well-made tool. The Blade is constructed out of 420 USA steel. The tip is a simple drop-point design. Other features of this of the c33 include a folding locking carabiner clip/bottle opener, thumb stud, and a removable.
The tang is constructed out of glass filled nylon this allows it to be light and durable. After holding the C33 for a bit, I noticed that the handle is not smooth but has a light lined texture to it.
The C33 is locked by a liner-lock. I attempted to open the blade with inertia but was unable to do so.
Opening and closing this knife one handed requires little effort. One my favorite thing about this blade is the large cut
out that allows for easy access to the thumb stud. This knife is designed to carried by right handed people. The thumb stud is on the right side and is not changeable. The pocket clip that is removable can only be attached to the left side tip down.
I can not commend Leatherman enough for manufacturing this knife in the USA and giving it a 25-year warranty. Some people have a dislike of the 420HC steel. However, I have found this steel to be corrosion and chip resistant. I was able to shred a newspaper and save the hairs off my arm right after opening it.
The C33 had no wiggle in the blade while being locked. While the blade and carabiner are closed, the blade will touch stud side of the caribiner.
This writer had a thought time closing the carabiner for the first time. After working with it for a while, I found that I need to press down then pull back and it would fold back. Some users have reported noticeable play in caribiner. The clip on the caribiner is not all that all that strong and looks to be a little off kilter. Personally, I am not a big on using hooks of any kind to carry a blade.
What others have to say about the C33
Great pocket knife… slim design… sharp as the dickens… very handy. Great Leatherman quality.
This is the third Crater c33 that I have purchased. I bought for my son so he would have a small, handy all-around folding knife for everyday use. I love this little knife.
